about

This album marks a celebration: 10 years spent playing on Monday, at the Exil Club in Zurich, as a support for Nik Bärtsch's Ronin & Mobile.

The first time I went to a Montags concert was around 2010, when Nik Bärtsch's Ronin played a concert together with another hero of mine: Eivind Aarset.
After that gig, one year went by and during 2011 Ronin invited again Aarset to join them on stage. So I went there only for that very combo, and only then I realized these zen-funk masters were playing at Exil, a club not so far away from my flat, EVERY Monday evening!
I started to go there more and more often, to a point I kind of got addicted to their music, their groove rituals and the Monday's evening community. Week after week I started to get to know all the musicians and crew involved for this weekly happening.

Back then there was another guitarist who took care of the live ambient guitar sets before, between and after the main sets: Bernhard Wagner.
We started to talk together, and he soon became my live-looping mentor. To the point that one day he sold me a device he had laying around collecting dust: a Looperlative LP1. That device became my very first multi-track looper, the one that opened the doors to this wonderful world of sound-mangling, which is live-looping.

Time went by and at some point in 2012, as I became more confident with these music techniques, I asked if I could play at a Montag's evening.
The day was the 11th June 2012, or Montags 393!
That evening Sha's Feckel (Sha and Kaspar Rast's post-rock combo) played on stage instead of Ronin, which to me was a wonderful way to introduce myself into the Montags affaire, as I felt my playing style (back then) was a bit more rough and aggressive than Bernhard's.
And so I became a part of the bill.
The first years I would play only once per month, as Bernhard was the main ambient act, until few years later, when Bernhard left to follow and develop his own path (also with his amazing band Sonar). Since then I took over all Montag's evenings ambient duties.

And now here I am, 10 years after and still rocking these ambient sets: a totally unique and amazing opportunity to make and develop my own music!

The title this album comes from a t-shirt I own and love, the very one I was wearing on the evening I played this 10 years anniversary set, which states: "Every Thing You Do Is Wrong".
To me this sentence (taking account of my sense of humour) is the best way to describe these last 10 years: a lot happened, many good things, but also a lot of mistakes, trials and errors, iterations of setups, gear and whatever music related stuff... as with live-looping (and life itself) you are never totally able to predict or control what is going to happen!

But.. that's the magik that makes this path (which I am devoted since so long), such an important and wonderful part my life.

I would like to thank Bernhard Wagner, Nik Bärtsch and the Montags crew for the support given and shared over all these years and more to come!
